The wood used to make these pieces is usually called hevena wood (from it's botanical name Hevea Brasiliensis). Rubberwood or malasian hardwood and is used for manufacturing a wide range of products, including furniture and latex. Today Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia produce the most natural rubber. The reason that rubberwood is so important to that lumber species is that after 25 years the latex production of the top of the trees drops. So, old trees are being harvested to renew the rubber forest and timber is then used to produce the furniture for the Eve Collection. Truly an enviromentally friendly species.

Hevena is a light hardwood which seasons to a pale cream colour. It's light colour allows it to be stained and finished according to requirements. It's readily available, has good properties and is not too expensive.
